“copet*” – a story of a little black backpack

* pickpocket
it was summer 2004
and a little black backpack stood
in a shelf of a store close to mozartplatz, salzburg.
when someone finally bought it,
the little black backpack became a home to
a pair of brown wallet and planner
that came from down under,
a little phone, a shiny metal disk ,
and a hello bear stationery case.
since then the little black backpack have traveled
accompanying the someone from places to places.
it has a special place on the someone’s desk
and it saw different faces each and every day.
last saturday afternoon, at the setiabudhi gas station,
the little black backpack lied in a front seat of a car.
when a door opened,
a stranger reached for the little black backpack.
he then run and hop onto a back of a motorcycle
the little black backpack could hear
the steps of people chasing
shouting “copet! copet!”
it could feel the motorcycle speeding,
almost hit a pedestrian walking by.
and the little black backpack knew
that it will never see the someone again.

Hi Riri, smoga bisa cepat pulih dari rasa kehilangan :-) Aku juga pernah kecopetan, malah lebih parah: paspor! Pas aku di luar Indo dan UK lagi... Nggak kebayang kalau harus dideportasi ke Indo gara2 nggak bisa ngeliatin visa masuk UK. Untunglah itu tidak terjadi...
